"Summer Blogging Journey Week Two Day Three"

                                             Day 3:  "The Great Depression"

Activity 1:  "Dealing With Stress"

On this Blog I'm gonna exlain what would I do when I want to relax or de-stress.

When I'm stressing, I always listen to KPOP(Korean POP music), I watch the Ellen Degeneres show and going on Facebook/Twitter,Watch Philippines/Korean movies.

Activity 2:  "Offering A Helping Hand"

During this period, people struggle to find work both here at home and overseases. It was a really tough time for people living in the Great Plains of the United States, brcuase they were hit with a huge drought that lasted for most of the decade. Many crops were damaged and farmers were not able to make enough money to feed their families.

In this blog, I am going to think that I was alive in the 1930's.I am also going to list 3 differet ways that I could raise funds for families to help them buy food.

-I think that I could've help these families by growing a different types of veges in their home, and sell it to get some money.

-Start making a donation box and place it on the market or some places that people use to go and buy staff from.

-These families should start a shoe shine/boot polish job in their town.

Bonus Activity:  "Paying It Forward"

In the mid-1930's, things began to change for the better in NZ.More people were able to find work and receive a steady paycheck. They were still careful, however, with their money and rarely, if ever, bought treats or gifts for one another.

I am going to imagine that I was able to travel back in time to visit a family in the 1930's.I am going to bring a special gifts/treats for my family.

-I think that I would love to bring some homemade cookies, pineapple pies and some plums and orange.

Kia ora Seniola,

My name is Emiely (pronounced “Emily”) and I work alongside Patricia at the Summer Learning Journey!

Activity 1: It's great to be able to read the different strategies you use to deal with stress. Thanks for sharing these! I can see that you prefer to de-stress by focusing on something else (like KPOP) and getting your mind off the thing that is bothering you. Often I use this strategy too and it helps me calm down. Another strategy I use when I am stressed is talking to someone I trust like my uncle or my friends. I find that when I talk about it, it feels like there has been a weight lifted off my shoulders. It's good to let it out sometimes! Do you have someone who you usually go and talk to if you are stressed?

Activity two: I really like the way you have used pictures to show the different ways you would help the families. It makes your blog post look much more colourful and interesting. Well done, Seniola! I especially like your vegetable growing idea! They would be able to sell it for money and also eat it themselves to save money! At home, I'm growing some beans and tomatoes. Have you planted anything before or are you growing anything at the moment?

Activity 3: Mmm... Yum! What great treats you will bring back with you. Oranges and plums are my favourite fruits!! A cold orange on a hot summer's day is always so refreshing. What are some things you like to eat on a hot summer's day?

It's awesome to see how actively you have been blogging this summer. I know the Summer Learning Journey team have enjoyed reading and commenting on your blog. Just a reminder that you can earn bonus points by commenting on other children's Summer Learning Journey blog posts. I'm sure they would appreciate your thoughtful and helpful comments.

Noho ora mai,

Emiely :)

Kia ora Seniola,

Everyone has different strategies to de-stress, so you just do what works best for you. :) Sometimes I don't want to talk to other people either, but I find that letting it out really helps me. Instead of talking to people, I sometimes like to find a quiet space and writing in my journal. That way I still let out and reflect on what is causing me stress. Often I feel much better after this.

That's great to hear you have done some planting! What did you do with the fresh vegetables once they were ripe and ready to eat? Did you cook something with them? What did you make?

YUM!! KFC is delicious! I really like KFC wicked wings and the original recipe with the bread bun and some potato and gravy. I like to make a mini burger with it all! What is your favourite thing at KFC?

Noho ora mai,

Emiely :)
