"Summer Blogging Journey Week Two Day Two"

                                                 Day 2:  "The Roaring 20's (The 1920's)

Activity 1:  "The Silent Movie"

The 1920's saw a massive surge in the number of people going to the movies.Huge new cinemas were built in both Auckland (The Civic Theatre) and Dunedin (Empire De Luxe). The most popular type of movies showing at local NZ cinemas were 'silent' film.

I am going to watch the trailer for Gold Rush. On this blog, I am going to talk about what was the movie is about.Would I enjoy watching a silent film? Why/Why not?

-The movie was about a Little tramp heads North to join in the Klondike rush. He was trapped in a small cabin by a blizzard.Eventually able to leave the cabin he falls for a young beautiful lady and she is a bar dancer, trying so hard to win her affections.I think that I will enjoy watching a silent film because it so funny, it helped me understand the importance of movement and stillness, I can learn about editing style, narrative economy, storytelling and it can helped me learn some skills about acting.

Activity 2:  "Art Deco"

In the 1920's a new artistic movement emerged in NZ (and all around the world). It was called "Art DecoImage result for Self-Portrait in the Green Bugatti.  (Self Portrait By Tamara De Lempicka)

On this blog I am going to explain how I think of the colour of the painting ,Do I like it?I am also going to give this painting a rating out of 5 stars (1 star=terrible painting, 2 stars=pretty bad painting, 3 stars=okay painting, 4 stars=good painting, 5 stars=amazing painting.)and after I've rated the painting out of 5, I will explain why I gave that rating.

-I think the colour of the painting is very beautiful and light.I am going to give this painting a 3 out of 5.The painting is really good however I kind of don't like how the artist paint the hand of the woman in the painting. The hand is looked like a man hand to me, it  simply look too big and the hand just doesn't fit with the women in the paint. That is the reason why I gave this painting a 3 out of 5.

Bonus Activity:  "Crossing The Tasman"

In 1928, a crew of four men flew, for the first time, across the Tasman from Australia to NZ. One of the men on board the Southern Cross air plane was a New Zealander named T.H McWilliams. His job was to operate the radio in the air plane.Unfortunately, the radio stopped working shortly after take off and the rain and ice were so heavy that the pilot, Kingsford Smith, couldn't see out of his front windscreen.Yikes!Fortunately, the plane made it all the way across the Tasman landing in Christchurch after 14 hours trip.

In this blog, I am going to imagine that I was a member of the flight crew.I am going to write a poem that describes how I would've felt when I landed safely in Christchurch after such a long trip.

-I am so happy
That we landed so safely
And I am so lucky
that I still got my body

-When I get off the plane
My family was the first to come to my brain
Cause we haven't got in touch
And I miss them so much

-When i saw my family
I started to cry
They all ran to me and embraced me
And I thought this is what I wanted to be

Hi Seniola,
Week 2 - Day 2
Activity 1: "The Silent Movie" I liked your post because you wrote about learning new skills. However, you have misinterpret the task. The activity is asking you to:
Watch the trailer for Gold Rush or The Lion's Cage. On your blog, tell us what you think the movie is about. There are no words spoken movie so you will need to pay careful attention to what the actors are doing! Do you think you would enjoy watching a silent film? Why/Why not? As you can see, I need you to watch the trailer of one of these movies and tell us if you would enjoy watching it and your reasons why. In order for you to gain full points for this activity I need you to do that and let me know.

I would like to suggest that you for the future try to copy and paste the activity task in your post as this would help you to keep on the right track with your answers.

Activity 2: I totally agree with your critique, I also think that the hand is out of proportion with the rest, it simply look too big!
I can see that you took the time to look at the painting and analyse it. Also, I think that is really great that you added the picture of the painting as well as this support your written and give your followers a clear reference for what is that you are written about.
Moving forwards, I found some discrepancies in your review because at first you mentioned that you love the painting and than after you gave a 3 out of 5. Which means the painting is good but not great. Do you see what I mean? If you really loved it your rate would be at least 4 if not a 5. I would like to suggest that after you write your post and before publish it, you read it aloud to yourself or to someone, and than ask yourself few questions, such as "Am I making my point clearly enough?" "Can I describe this using more interesting words", "How can I be more creative?". This is a simply strategy that can help you to improve you written significantly.

Activity 3:
I liked that use good descriptive words to convey how you felt if you were in that plane. Also it's lovely that you mentioned your family and that you tried to rhyme words such as " brain and plane" .
However, in order for you to gain full points for this activity I will need you to add a bit more written in your poem, at least another verse. You already mentioned how you feel perhaps you could talk about what would you do when you see your family, you could use words such as 'embrace' 'reunion' 'relief'. Also in the second verse you repeat "so much" twice, I want you to think about other words that you could use that means the same thing, such as 'a lot' 'heaps'. Could you do that and let me know?
Keep up with the good work!
I can't wait to see your next posts!
Kia kaha,
Patricia
