Day 4: "Contemporary Entertainment"
Activity 1: "Moana"
In late 2016, the movie "Moana" was released by Disney. It's a beautiful story about a young Polynesian girl from the fictional island of Motunui, who goes on a big adventure.
In this blog I am going to read a summary of the plot of Moana and I will imagine that I am writing a script for a scene in the movie.
Script
Moana: I am Moana of Motunui. This is my canoe. And you will journey to ahh...
Maui: Alright get over it. We gotta move.
Moana: I am Moana of Motun..uiiiii.....
Maui: It was Moana, right?
Moana: Yes. And you will restore the heart .
Maui: Alright, I'm out. Ahh, come on.
Activity 2: "Country Calendar"
Did you know that the longest running television show in NZ history is a programme called 'Country Calendar' It started on March 1996 and has been running ever since. The programme includes stories of everyday New Zealanders, many of whom are farmers.
For this activity I'm gonna write what I think would be the most interesting and/or challenging things about being a farmer? I will also decide if I wanted to become a farmer when I'm older.Why/Why not?
-For me, I think that the most challenging thing about being a farmer is to grow healthier, more productive plants.The most interesting thing about being a farmer is that you can farm whatever you love. I think that I would love to become a farmer is because, I can get free animal food, I can eat fresh plants and fresh food and also I can sell what I have been farming to get some money for my living and my family.
Bonus Activity: "Singing A Different Tone"
A member of NZ singers and songwriters have really burst onto the music scene, becoming popular both in NZ and overseas. One of these artist, Lorde, is gaining a lot of recognition for her unique style and songwriting ability. People all over the world seem to really like the lyrics (words) that she writes in her songs.

Day 3:
"Social System"
Activity 1: "Mixed-Member Proportional (MMP)"
In 1996, NZ adopted the MMP voting system. In September of 2017 we had a national election. Everyone in NZ, over the age of 18, was invited to vote for who they wanted to form the next government in NZ. The race was really close and in the end, three different political parties (Labour, NZ First and the Green Party), came together to form the new government. It is called a 'coalition government' because it includes different people from different political parties.
On this blog, I'm going to form a coalition government with two other people and why I chose them.
For me, I would form a coalition with two of my best friends, Latanoa and Kim. Latanoa would be a perfect addition to the coalition because he is so good at making jokes, he is a very funny person, smart and very supportive. Kim would be great because she is very smart, good listener, she's good at making decision and she is a very kind person.
Activity 2: "Migration"
Over the past few decades, there has been a huge rise in the number of people coming to NZ to live and/or travel. I was one of those people! In fact, I moved with my family to NZ in 2010 and I am so glad that I did. It's a pretty place to call home! At the moment I live about 10 minutes from there stunning beaches and a beautiful national park.
For this activity, I'm going to write three things that tourist, could do if they came to visit my hometown. (What do I like about mu hometown?)
-My hometown Fasi mo e Afi, Nuku'alofa is a small town that is less than 15 minutes from the sea. For me, I think that if a tourist came to visit my hometown, I would probably take them to my house, so that they can taste my a Tongan meal, I would show them my church and I would love to take them to the sea to see how beautiful the water is.
Bonus Activity: "Modern Learning Environment"
Over the past few years, a number of schools have changed the way that they teach. Instead of one teacher working in one classroom with one group of students, some schools have built huge classrooms where many teachers work together to teach a big groups of student. This is called a 'Modern Learning Environment'.
Some people prefer Modern Learning Environment while others aren't so sure. Take a look at the picture above. The one on the left is a photograph of a traditional classroom, and the picture on the right is of a Modern Learning Environment.
For this activity, I'm gonna design a classroom, and say what is special about it and why I design it that way.
The thing that is special about the classroom that I have design, is that this classroom is a place for young people to enjoy there.The reason why I design it like this it because I love colourful equipment in my classroom, I love reading and I just love the way I design it because it so beautiful and light and students will always love to come to school everyday.
Day 1: "A Decade Of Sport"
Activity 1: "Chasing Great"
Over the past 17 years NZ has experienced a number of sporting highlights, perhaps none larger than then the back-to-back rugby World Cup victories in 2011 and 2015. In both competitions our national rugby team, the All Blacks, was captained by a man named Richie McCaw. He is a arguably one of the best rugby players of all time.
Over the years, Richie and the team have worn a few jerseys. I'm going to design a new jersey for the All Blacks to wear in their matches.
Activity 2: "Sporting Heroes"
In 2015, a kiwi golfer named Lydia Ko became the youngest woman in the world to reach #1 ranking. She was only 17 years old. Many people from here in NZ and overseas really admire her and think of her as as modern-day sporting hero.
On this blog I'm going to talk about my hero.
-My sporting hero is Saina Nehwal, she is an Indian professional badminton single player. Nehwal, the former world no. 1 has won over twenty three international titles, which includes ten superseries titles.She is the first Indian badminton player to have win an Olympic medal or to have reach the final of the BWF (Badminton World Federation) World Championships.She is an inspiring person and beloved by many peoples.
Bonus Activity: "Shake It Off"
In recent years, many New Zealanders have embraced a new form of exercise called Zumba. It was developed by a man named Alberto Perez who lives in the country of Columbia. He created Zumba by bringing together many different dance styles including: cumbia, mambo, hip-hop, soca, samba, salsa, tango, merengue and mambo.
For this activity, I am going to look at the picture of different dance styles, and match them to the name of the dance I think people are doing and say why I chose each one.
